Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, asked President Joko Widodo to launch Masjid Raya Daan Mogot.

The mosque in Daan Mogot is built above 17.6 ha of land in September 2014. It is targeted that the construction to finish in October 2016.
